Leads and Headlines

This week, we had speaker to inform us about how vital leads and headlines to news releases and articles in general.

Headlines are the simplest way of catching a reader’s attention. There are a variety of ways to write headlines. After review, my favorite form of healines would be features. They can be witty, short, and  to the point. Play on words are fun and have often grabbed my attention.

Leads are how to give your reader the most important points of the article. The 5w’s are answered in the leads. I tend to lean towards anecdotal leads that don’t have to inform the reader from the beginning but draws them into the story.

Overall, I believe the visit was effective and I’d definitely suggest having them come in and speak about the topic. Much of it was review so I’d like to have more new information but still very well put together.
